Marriage an Act of Faith
March 4, 2008
Willard thinks that a lot of people are scared of marriage. Willard knows he’s selfish and kind of lazy, and he’s afraid he won’t be a good father or husband. He sometimes wonders if waiting until he’s a better, happier person is a good idea.
However, Bishop Jon Hale reminds Willard that “the scriptures say that if a person will lose their life, they will find it.” Willard thinks this is good advice; he has to exercise faith in marriage and in himself before he will receive the witness.

Attitude First, Then Behavior

Willard has been going on a lot of fun dates with good girls recently, but it has been a few months since he dated someone steadily. Yesterday, Willard’s angel-mother told him about an article in the September 2007 Ensign about a man who thought he wanted to get married and was dating a lot but realized he wasn’t trying as hard as he thought. His bishop helped him see how to change the ways he dated, and he found and married a woman that he loves (at the tender age of 45!).
